How Do I Register for Classes?

You can register for classes you want to take by filling out the community education registration form in this catalog and mailing it to the respective Community Ed Coordinator. So if you are taking classes in Tower, you mail it to the Tower CE Coordinator. You can also call the respective CE Coordinator to register for classes. Little Grizzlies After School Enrichment Program

Little Grizzlies is the place for after school fun and activities! The program is open to students in Learning Readiness through 6th grade. Enrollment forms can be found outside the NW Library or by contacting Little Grizzlies Supervisor, Rita Barnett at 410-9127

Mon – Fri After school – 6 pm $5.00 per student/per day


Living Well with Chronic Conditions is an evidenced based workshop utilizing a standardized methodology to help participants develop ways to deal with physical, emotional and social challenges of chronic conditions. Topics include ways to deal with the physical, emotional and social challenges of chronic conditions. Topics include physical activity and exercise, healthy eating and weight management, getting a good night’s sleep, understanding emotions, dealing with depression, improving communication skills, working with health professionals and many more. The six-week workshop is facilitated by two trained leaders who have been certified to guide participants in finding practical ways to deal with their conditions. There is no cost for the workshop and all materials will be provided. The workbook “Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions” will be utilized and is available for purchase upon participant request. Community Education fee of $5.00 due at time of registration. Make Your Own Ceramic Dish

Come explore the world of ceramics by learning how to make a ceramic dish set in just 4 sessions!

North Woods Art Teacher, Mrs. Betterley will take you step by step in the creation process that is both rewarding for beginner and experienced artists alike. Throughout the 4-week session, the class will create a custom bowl, cup, and small plate that can be used as actual tableware or decoration for your home. The class meets once a week on Wednesdays for 4 weeks. Day 1 will feature demos and creation of a bowl and small plate. Day 2 will feature a demo and creation of a cup/mug. Day 3 will consist of glazing demos and painting. Day 4 will consist of sharing your art with the class, packaging the art and taking home your beautiful creations. This day may also serve as an additional day for glazing if needed, but artist must know they will need to pick up their artwork at a later date because it will need to be fired in the kiln at a later time. Don’t feel you can complete 3 ceramic artworks in 4 days? Don’t worry Mrs. Betterley will be there every step of the way! Class will meet 1-2 hours each session depending on class size and ability level. Instructor fee and Community Education fee of $5.00 due at time of registration.

(Cost is not included in your trip fee; you pay out-of-pocket for dinner.) You must indicate if you will be having dinner at “The Winds Steakhouse” when you register for the trip in order for a reservation to be made for you. (You may also bring a bag dinner.)

Registrations for the trip are limited to 30 people. There are no refunds for cancellation unless seat(s) can be sold to another party. All patrons will be refunded if the trip is cancelled due to lack of registrations. Please contact your local Community Education Coordinator for an itinerary, more information, or to register. Estate Planning/Titling of Assets

Get your estate in order by planning for incompetency and/or death. Learn why you need a Power of Attorney, Health Care Directive, and Will. Also, get up-to-date information about nursing home planning and learn how titling your assets impacts your estate and nursing home planning. Please register with CE by Sept. 25. Must have a minimum of 7 registrants in order to hold the class.

Winter Bird Watching – Beginner Level

This class will help you become familiar with birds that spend their winters here in Northern Minnesota. You will learn skills of bird identification, binocular use and how to choose a field guide. You will also learn about feeding birds, types of feeders that work well, where to put them and what to put in them to get a good variety of visitors. If you have binoculars bring them with

and you will be shown how to adjust them for your personal vision needs. Audubon`s Annual Christmas Bird Counts will begin in December. For those who participate or would like to, this is an opportunity to brush up on your identification skills.

Julie’s Dance Practice

  1. is for ages 3 years – 12th grade. You learn one Tap, Ballet, Hip Hop/lyric number depending on the age/grade. Class is once a week for ½ hour from October 3rd –April/May with a recital at the end. Cost is $22 per month per child –discount for 2nd child. North Woods Community Theatre

Interested individuals should attend this kick off meeting. We will be looking at playbills to select the production we will perform in the coming weeks! It’s a great, fun-filled time!!! Practices take place Tuesday and Thursdays up until the production date.

Open Fitness Center

The fitness center is open to the public. Each member is required to sign an informed consent & release form. Parents will sign for students under 18 years of age. Enrolled students are free but students under 7th grade must be supervised by an adult at all times.

Fees are payable the first of each month to Fitness Center Supervisor. Hours of operation are subject to change. Hours will change after Football Season.

Hours of Operation Open to PUBLIC for Fall are:
