I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new Assistant Principal and Activities Director at North Woods School. My name is Crystal Poppler, and I am honored to be back in ISD 2142 and to join the North Woods team. My background is primarily in Elementary education. I spent several years subbing in K-12, teaching learning readiness, and working in various other educational positions. In 2014 I joined ISD 2142 as the 5th-grade teacher at Northeast Range, where I stayed until 2022, when I left to pursue my career in educational leadership. Last year, I was the Dean of Students at the Northland Learning Center, where I gained valuable insights into student behavior management and support systems. I received my Bachelor's degree from Bemidji State University in 2002. I went on to received my Master's degree in curriculum and instruction from St. Mary's University in 2018. I then returned to St. Mary's University, where I attained my Educational Leadership Certificate in 2021. I was born and raised in Ely, where I still reside with my husband. We have four amazing children, Joshua (25), Amelia (20), Alison (15), and Aubrielle (13). In addition to my role in education, I have a deep passion for the arts, particularly theater and dance. I believe in the power of creative expression to enrich students' lives and foster personal growth. When I am not at school, you can find me teaching dance for Reflections Dance Company, choreographing or directing for youth theater, acting in community theater, or playing in the city band. As Assistant Principal and Activities Director, I am excited to collaborate with the outstanding staff, students, and families at North Woods School. Together, we will continue cultivating an environment that nurtures academic excellence, personal development, and a strong sense of community. I am committed to ensuring that each student receives a well-rounded education and ample opportunities to explore their passions through extracurricular activities. I welcome communication and look forward to working with all of you. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns. Let us embark on this journey together, shaping the future of our students and our community.
